KLISBio to participate at 2022 IFSSH, IFSHT & FESSH Combined Congress
KLISBio, a regenerative medicine company utilizing silk-based technology, announced its participation in the 2022 IFSSH, IFSHT & FESSH Combined Congress taking place June 6-10, 2022 in London. Key company leadership including CEO Gabriele Grecchi, CTO Antonio Alessandrino, and Global Marketing Manager Gabriella Francavilla will attend to strengthen relationships with physicians and potential partners.
The company's lead product, SILKBridge, is a silk fibroin medical device designed for peripheral nerve repair. Clinical findings from a first-in-human study led by Prof. Maurizio Calcagni at University Hospital Zurich will be presented on Tuesday, June 7 at 11:30 AM London time.
Peripheral nerve injuries impact over 300,000 patients annually in the United States and more than one million globally, resulting in motor, sensory, and autonomic function loss. SILKBridge's multilayered silk structure provides porosity and compression resistance to support nerve regeneration while degrading at an optimized rate throughout healing.
The pilot study examined adult patients with digital nerve defects, focusing on procedure feasibility and safety over 12 months. Secondary measures included sensory recovery assessments and pain evaluation.
Antonio Alessandrino stated: "We are thrilled to share the results of our first-in-human pilot study on SILKBridge," emphasizing the milestone's importance for future clinical development.
KLISBio holds patents in silk fibroin technologies and maintains a leadership team with significant MedTech expertise. The Milan-based company develops multiple regenerative medicine products including vascular grafts, bone substitutes, and rotator cuff repair solutions.
